A number of our members gave up last Sunday to Marshall a charity bicycle run in aid of the Marie Keating Foundation - a charity providing support for cancer victims. The weather was not kind but the effort was made worth it by the thanks we got from many cyclists - and the following from the Charity:
We cannot thank you and all the team from the Dublin Harley-Davidson Lads enough for your support yesterday at the Martin Earley Tour of Kildare, it was such a pleasure to have you there, you took such good care of all the cyclists and they very much appreciated it. I personally had at least 20 people come up to me when they returned and they said how fantastic the Motor Cycle Marshals were. Fiona and many of the volunteers were told the same thing from many people. Michael can you please pass on our sincerest thanks to Eddie Murphy, Sean Byrne, Liam Talbot, David Tannam. David Bowes, Kevin O’Neill, Ken Coalter for giving up their Sunday to help us, the weather was so bad and they put the cyclists before themselves and made sure every person was safe. We hope that we can ask you again next year to help us at the Tour of Kildare. Many thanks again you have a great team in the Dublin Harley-Davidson Lads.
For the moment Sunday ride outs will be planned on the day and will start from McDonald’s/Apple green/Cranley Cars Naas Road meeting from 10am leaving 11am.
Following on from a discussion at the Harley Directors meeting in London earlier this year the 3 Irish Chapters got together in Athlone (April 14th 18) for an informal meeting. It was a great success, thanks to Fiona Carroll from Celtic Thunder and the boys from Belfast Chapter. We had a get together a meal and 1 or 2 drinks. What happens on the road stays on the road. See photos on the Instagram link. A nice spin back Sunday and only got rain at Liffey Valley. We have decided to meet up yearly now and it's up to us in Gaelic Chapter to make it work on 14/04/19, any ideas welcome. Thanks to everyone that could show up from all over our little Island. See you all in Killarney. Ride safe.
